Weights

Typical Weights

Included with the price of the rental, you can place up to 2 tons (4,000lbs) of material without an extra charge.
If your weight exceeds 2 tons, you will be charged $50/ton rounded to the nearest 1/100 of a ton.

Heavy Material examples:
  • Cubic yard of solid concrete weighs about 4,000 pounds (~2 tons), or 150 pounds per cubic foot.
  • Solid asphalt weighs slightly less at 4,000 pounds per cubic yard.
  • A bundle of three-tab asphalt shingles weighs between 60 and 80 pounds, but this may vary depending on the quality and type of shingle.
  • Generally, three bundles of shingles are enough to cover 1 square of roof (100 square feet), which can weigh anywhere from 180 to 240 pounds.
We can carry up to 17 squares of asphalt shingles per container  = ~4,000lbs (~2 tons). We recommend the 12 yard container for this. 17 squares will fit in the 12 yard with no issues.

Which Size Do I Need?

  • A standard pick up truck can hold about 2 yards.
  • 12 yard = 6 pickup truck loads
  • 16 yard = 8 pickup truck loads
